Fayose dismisses opposition chances

• Predicts easy 2027 victory for Tinubu

A former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would comfortably secure re-election in 2027, declaring that neither Atiku Abubakar nor Peter Obi possesses the political strength to unseat him.
Fayose made the assertion during an interview on EKTV while reacting to growing calls from some Nigerians for Tinubu to resign over the country’s worsening security situation.
According to the former governor, critics of the administration on social media are largely motivated by support for rival presidential hopefuls rather than genuine concern about governance.
“A lot of people on social media are asking Tinubu to resign now, but I’m saying you don’t need to fight because he still has one year left,” Fayose said.
He argued that many of those criticizing the President are aligned with opposition figures and are already positioning themselves for the next election cycle.
“Now all those agitating on social media have candidates they are supporting, some are with Peter Obi, others are with Atiku; it’s still somebody you want to collect from Atiku and give,” he stated.
Fayose maintained that Tinubu remains politically formidable and would prevail against any opposition candidate if elections were held repeatedly.
“But I’m explaining that if the election is conducted 10 times, Tinubu will defeat all of them,” he said.
The former governor also pointed to Tinubu’s political rise to the presidency despite not enjoying the backing of former President Muhammadu Buhari during the ruling party’s presidential nomination process.
“Somebody whom Buhari did not support, but he struggled and emerged President, will now fold his hands and allow the opposition to take over power from him?” Fayose asked.
Emphasizing Tinubu’s political experience and resilience, he suggested that the opposition faces a difficult task in its bid to wrest power from the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Even me this little thing, will finish them,” he added, underscoring his belief that the President possesses superior political machinery and strategy compared to his rivals.
Fayose’s remarks add to the growing debate over the political landscape ahead of 2027, as opposition parties continue consultations on possible alliances to challenge the incumbent administration.
