Team Nigeria wrestlers

Nigeria’s wrestling delegation has arrived in Brazzaville, Congo, ahead of the 2026 Central African Wrestling Championship, a competition featuring Senior and U-17 athletes in Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women’s Wrestling categories.
The Nigerian contingent comprises:
Andrew Woyinkorikiye – 53kg, Women’s Wrestling; Precillia Archbone – 45kg, Women’s Wrestling and Terry Godfrey – 65kg, Freestyle
Team officials include l, Kingkuro Oyinbrakemi Tangi – Coach, Abigail Ibrahim – Assistant Secretary of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF)
The team touched down in Brazzaville on Sunday ahead of the commencement of competition on Monday.
The championship is designed to promote wrestling across the region, develop emerging talents, and strengthen unity and cultural exchange among participating African nations.
Nigeria’s participation underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, under the leadership of President Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, to expose athletes to high-level international competitions. The federation continues to prioritize talent identification and development by providing wrestlers with opportunities to sharpen their technical, physical, and tactical abilities on the continental stage.
The championship comes on the heels of Nigeria’s impressive outing at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Ranking Series Tournament in Mongolia, where four Nigerian wrestlers sponsored by the federation secured one silver and two bronze medals.
Since assuming office as President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Adeniyi, who also serves as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, has maintained a clear focus on consolidating the achievements of previous administrations while raising the profile and standard of wrestling in Nigeria.
His administration has emphasized increased participation in international tournaments, as well as the organization of educational workshops and training camps aimed at enhancing the capacity of coaches, officials, and athletes across the country.
