President Bola Tinubu on Monday paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s frontline security personnel, praising their resilience and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.

The President said the nation remained grateful to members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity despite the dangers associated with their duties.

In a personally signed statement, Tinubu acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by troops operating in difficult terrains, describing them as the shield between innocent Nigerians and those determined to undermine the nation’s peace and stability.

He noted that the battle against terrorism had come with pain, pressure and significant sacrifices but commended the courage and determination of security personnel who continue to confront threats across the country.

“Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured. Your country does not take you for granted,” the President stated.

According to him, security operatives stationed in forests, creeks, roads, forward operating bases and other challenging environments bear the burden of national protection to ensure that millions of Nigerians can live, work, worship, farm and conduct business without fear.

Tinubu extended his appreciation beyond the military to personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence agencies and local security formations working tirelessly to keep the country safe.

The President also recognised the sacrifices of families of security personnel, noting that many endure prolonged separations, anxiety and emotional hardship due to the demands of national service.

He paid tribute to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire the nation and remain evident in communities rescued from violence and citizens protected from harm.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations against criminal elements.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information,” he said.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and other security threats, stressing that Nigeria would not surrender to fear or allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and violent extremists to define the country’s identity.
