The Federal Government has intensified moves to block revenue leakages and tighten fiscal controls through a new digital system aimed at sanitising public finance operations across ministries, departments and agencies.

The initiative, known as the Revenue Optimisation Assurance Platform (RevOp), is designed to centralise revenue collection and improve transparency in government transactions.

Speaking at a sensitisation workshop in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the platform represents a shift from fragmented manual processes to a fully digital revenue architecture.

He was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mohammed Danjuma.

According to him, the system enables real-time generation, collection, monitoring and reporting of government revenues, describing it as central to ongoing fiscal reforms.

The Minister, speaking under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Finance, said RevOp is expected to close loopholes that have long weakened public finance administration.

He noted that the platform was introduced to replace manual and fragmented processes that previously exposed government revenue to leakages and inefficiencies.

However, he admitted that implementation challenges persist, particularly among banks and frontline officers who handle payment processes.

He said some banking personnel were yet to fully understand the operational procedures of the platform, a gap he said was affecting user experience and efficiency.

“Banks are not just collection agents; they are critical partners in ensuring seamless revenue flows,” he stressed.

The sensitisation workshop, organised by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, was convened to deepen understanding of the system and strengthen collaboration with financial institutions.

Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, said the platform is a strategic tool for improving revenue collection, reconciliation and reporting across government agencies.

She said government would continue to engage stakeholders to ensure full deployment and effectiveness of the digital system nationwide.
