Two weeks old, five others killed in fresh Plateau attack

No fewer than six persons were reportedly killed including a two weeks old baby and four others wounded in a fresh assault launched on Lamba Gyambar village of Lamba district of Wase local government area of Plateau state by the suspected Tarok militia.

According to our correspondent, the attack which occurred on Saturday came around 4: 15pm when Gunmen armed to the teeth invaded the village and started shooting sporadically and burning houses, adding that residents of the village have fled to Lamba and Dangi town

According to Nuhu Musa who is a resident of the area said, “ we were going about our normal activities suddenly we began to hear shooting from different angles of our village.

“We saw the attackers shooting. They killed six people in the attack including “two weeks old baby”. They burnt down 20 houses and went away with some of our valuable properties. There were only soldiers restoring peace in the area and that was why the attackers did not face much resistance from them (soldiers).

“We are very sure of the people that launched the attack. They are Tarok because we saw a familiar face among the attackers. The wounded people have been rushed to hospital in Dangi and Bauchi for medical assistance, “he added.

The resident gave the names of the deceased as; Alh. Malam Muhammad (45), Sa’idu Bako (60), Hafsat Hassan (42), Fatima Musa (two weeks old), Adamu Ibrahim (60) and Rashida Khalid (38).

But the chairman of Tarok in Wase, Jangle Lohbut when contacted for comment on the allegation, disputed that the attack was not launched by Tarok, nothing that they had a very good relationship with the people of attacked area and have no reason to attack the village.

He further said that the assault might have been by suspected armed robbers.

However, when contacted, the STF Information Officer in the state, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident but could not give the casualty figure.
