
Troops Intercept Drug Trafficker Conveying 235kg Cannabis
Troops of 176 Guards Battalion, Nigerian Army, deployed to Abaji, have arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Ayodeji John, conveying 235kg of cannabis along Lokoja-Abuja highway.
The suspect was nabbed during a routine snap check at about 7:50 p.m. on 22 June 2026, with the illicit drug stashed in his white Toyota Avalon XLS car registered Kaduna BNG-326BN.
The suspected trafficker was delivering the consignment in Abuja from Okitipupa, Ondo State.
Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, troops discovered 273 compressed packets of suspected Cannabis Sativa weighing approximately 235 kilograms.
The 30-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and the consignment handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on 23 June 2026 for further investigation and prosecution.
The successful operation highlights the vigilance and professionalism of troops in denying criminal elements freedom of action and reinforcing ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of illicit drugs across the country.
