…Says 41 in Court, 30 for Unlawful Assembly, 17 Released

In an emotionally-charged atmosphere of tears and words of comfort at the Maraban Jos home of slain woman – Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu, Governor Uba Sani has assured the family that justice would be served on the killers.

He also said his government would take full responsibility for the care and free education of the orphans she left behind.

Speaking directly to the grieving family, the governor said: “This matter will not be swept under the carpet. Those responsible will be identified, apprehended and prosecuted. No one involved will escape justice.”

Providing an update on the investigation, Governor Sani disclosed that 41 suspects have been charged to court for culpable homicide, while another 30 suspects are facing charges for unlawful assembly.

He added that 17 individuals found not culpable had been released, while 41 others remain under investigation as security agencies continue efforts to arrest additional suspects still at large.

The governor further stated that any police personnel found to have played a direct or indirect role in the incident would also face the full weight of the law.

The governor also pledged that the Kaduna State Government would take responsibility for the education and welfare of the children left behind by the deceased.

“Compassion must be matched with action,” Sani said.
