The Progressive Young Lawyers Network (PYLN) has endorsed Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya as its preferred candidate for the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association ahead of the association’s forthcoming national elections.
The endorsement was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the group’s spokesperson, Uthman Isa Tochukwu, who said the decision followed a comprehensive assessment of the presidential aspirants and their visions for the legal profession.
According to the statement, the network selected Badejo-Okusanya based on what it described as her record of professional excellence, visionary leadership, and longstanding commitment to the growth and welfare of young lawyers.
The PYLN noted that Badejo-Okusanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Senior Partner at ALP NG & Co., currently serves as a board member of the Lagos Court of Arbitration and previously chaired the planning committee for the NBA’s 2024 Annual General Conference.
The group also commended her support for young legal practitioners through her participation in several professional engagements, including the NBA Ikeja Branch Young Lawyers’ Forum Legal Summit, the NBA Degema Branch Young Lawyers’ Forum Annual Symposium, and the Lagos Hangout 2026.
It said her involvement in these programmes reflected her commitment to mentorship, ethical legal practice, innovation, and leadership development within the profession.
The statement further highlighted her advocacy for gender inclusion and justice sector reforms, noting that as an active member of FIDA Nigeria, she has promoted access to justice, women’s leadership, and the adoption of technology in legal practice.
Speaking on behalf of the network, Tochukwu said the NBA requires transformational leadership capable of strengthening its institutions and advancing the legal profession.
He expressed confidence that Badejo-Okusanya possesses the experience, competence, and leadership qualities needed to guide the association into what he described as a new era of progress.
The PYLN called on lawyers nationwide, particularly young practitioners, to support Badejo-Okusanya’s candidacy, describing her as a leader whose career reflects excellence, integrity, accessibility, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of the legal profession.
The endorsement is expected to boost her campaign as the race for the NBA presidency gathers momentum ahead of the association’s national elections.
