BREAKING: ‘No Force Can Stop This Revolution’ — Sowore Reacts to ₦200m Bail, Remains in Kuje Prison

Date:

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed that his political struggle will continue despite being granted ₦200 million bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Mohammed Umar on Tuesday admitted Sowore to bail in the case bordering on comments in which he allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as a criminal.

However, the activist was returned to the Kuje Correctional Centre after the proceedings pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

The court ordered Sowore to produce two sureties, including a traditional ruler from his hometown and an Abuja-based property owner. It also directed him to deposit his international passport with the court.

Reacting shortly after the ruling, Sowore said the conditions would not deter his activism, insisting that his campaign for change would continue.

“There is no force on earth that can stop this revolution,” he declared.
Commenting on the directive to surrender his passport, Sowore alleged that authorities had long been interested in seizing his travel documents.

“We warned them, but they didn’t listen. I was granted ₦200 million bail. They have always been after my passport. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it,” he said.

Sowore has remained in custody since June 22, 2026, after he was remanded pending the hearing of his bail application.

The prosecution has drawn widespread public attention, with his supporters and several civil society organisations arguing that the case is an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

As of the time of filing this report, Sowore remained at the Kuje Correctional Centre while efforts were ongoing to meet the conditions for his release.
