FCT infrastructure drive will boost agrarian economy – Kwali chair

The Chairman of the Kwali Area Council, Nuhu Daniel, has lauded the infrastructure drive of the Federal Government, stating that the newly commissioned road projects will drastically transform the economic and agricultural landscape of the council and the wider Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Gomani – Dafa- Yagoji road commissioning in the council, Daniel emphasized that the new infrastructure solves long-standing accessibility challenges that have historically plagued local communities, particularly farming villages and students.
The Chairman highlighted that the completed road network is a major victory for agrarian communities within the council, noting that farmers will no longer struggle to transport their yields to nearby markets.
“Now all our farm products will be brought out, and I think it will also boost economic activities within the area.
“Because we have farmlands, we have all kinds of other activities around here,” he stated.
Reflecting on the severe hardships faced by residents prior to the intervention, Daniel recounted how a vulnerable bridge near Tungan Sarki frequently cut off entire communities during the rainy season.
“Honestly speaking, before the construction of this road, there were terrible challenges here.
“We also have another bridge around Tungan Sarki. That bridge cost us a lot because, sometimes, a large volume of water would overflow it,” he explained.
He further noted that the seasonal flooding severely disrupted daily life, crippling local commerce and denying young people access to education.
“When that happened, people couldn’t cross to get to their farms, and other businesses inside the terrain were halted.
“ It was especially tough for students; they couldn’t get access to cross to the neighboring community to go to school,” he said.
According to the Council Chairman, the successful completion of the road and bridge infrastructure serves as tangible proof that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is delivering on its governance promises.
“I think solving this problem now has given us a green light. It shows that the government is on board and that the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of Mr. President is being fulfilled and is ongoing,” Daniel stated.
Looking ahead, Daniel expressed optimism that the infrastructure upgrade would serve as a catalyst for broader economic growth, projecting that the benefits would spill over far beyond the borders of the Kwali Area Council to impact the entire territory.
“With the commissioning of this road today, other economic activities will now be attracted to this environment. We know it is going to bring more achievements, not only to the Kwali Area Council but to the entire FCT.
“There are other investments further inside that can now boost the economic activities of the FCT as a whole.
“It has also created an enabling environment for people to thrive in their businesses, and it will further facilitate more job opportunities within the area,” he concluded.
