What We’re Doing To Boost Security in Kebbi Govt – Commissioner 

Kebbi State government, yesterday, said it has made significant investments in supporting security agencies operating in the State as part of measures to ensure the security of lives and property.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, who stated this during a media delegation’s courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of LEADERSHIP in Abuja, insisted that the State accorded topmost priority to security.

Ahmed said Governor Nasiru Idris has remained consistent in providing logistics, welfare support and operational backing to all security agencies in the State, noting that multiple operational bases and mobile police deployments have been established across flashpoints.

“The government is doing much more than any other government in the country in terms of supporting security operatives across the state,” he stated.

Ahmed said the state government would prioritise security and would not shirk from supporting security agencies while empowering residents to help curtail crimes arising from unemployment.

They debunked the rumour of the emergence of a new terror sect, Sai Mallam, saying what was termed a new sect was a case of cybercrime-related activities involving some youths.

‘Security agencies, with the full support of the state government, are addressing the situation. Investigations have been concluded, and those behind what was clearly an online fraud-related activity would soon face prosecution,” he noted.

While appealing for stronger collaboration to enhance national visibility of Kebbi State’s developmental activities, Ahmed regretted that the state government was under-reported by media organisations operating in the State.

Ahmed said the visit to LEADERSHIP was part of an advocacy tour aimed at strengthening collaboration with the media to improve coverage of Kebbi State’s activities.

“We are here to seek more support, more areas of collaboration, especially from those who have been our friends over the years.”

“Governor Nasiru Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, has transformed Kebbi State through massive infrastructure development and has remained consistent in addressing the welfare of civil servants and retirees”, he added.

He listed education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure as sectors that received major boosts, saying the State has employed over 2,000 teachers.

“Aside from building new schools and rehabilitating hundreds of others, the state government introduced a five-year extension to the retirement age of teachers to retain experienced professionals in the system, to ensure knowledge transfer and improve the standard of education in Kebbi State”, he noted.

Responding, the Group Managing Director of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, Muazu Elazeh, said the organisation was ready to deepen collaboration with Kebbi State.
