The Ekiti police command says it has rescued victims who were abducted during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church on April 28 in Eda-Oniyo in the state.
About five armed men stormed the prayer ground during a night vigil, fatally shot the pastor, and whisked away some members of the congregation.
In a statement on Saturday, Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesperson, said the victims were rescued following sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), military, Amotekun corps, local hunters, other security agencies, and the Ekiti government.
“The rescued victims have since been taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment to ascertain their health condition and ensure they receive adequate medical care,” the statement reads.
