The Oba of Lagos. Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has appealed to politicians and Nigerians to embrace peace and reject violence ahead of the 2027 general elections, while expressing confidence that President would secure another term.
Speaking during the weekend at his palace in Lagos during a courtesy visit by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen Forum, the monarch said his foremost wish was for an election conducted without violence, hatred or bitterness.
Akiolu maintained that political calculations alone could not determine leadership, insisting that God’s will ultimately prevails in electoral outcomes.
He said he believed Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election, adding that Nigerians should also pray for peace, good health and national unity.
The monarch called on political actors across party lines to avoid actions capable of causing tension before, during and after the polls, urging them to prioritize peace, unity and national development.
He further encouraged Nigerians to trust in God, uphold integrity and reject discrimination based on religion or ethnicity, noting that many successful nations had overcome difficult periods before achieving progress.
Earlier, Lagos APC Chairman, , said the forum visited the palace to seek royal blessings following the party primaries, the recently concluded off-cycle elections and in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, said APC state chairmen across the country were mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election, adding that the party in Edo State was targeting 2.5 million votes for the president in 2027.
