Ansar-u-Deen Society restates political neutrality ahead of Osun gov’hip poll

The Ansar-u-Deen Society (ADS) in Osun State has reaffirmed its non-partisan stance ahead of the August 15 governorship election, despite expressing support for members who seek elective offices.
The position was made known during a meeting in Osogbo with the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji.
peaking on behalf of the society, its state secretary, Hafiz Akande, stressed that the organisation does not align itself with any political party.
He explained that while the society remains politically neutral as a corporate body, it would continue to encourage and support its members who aspire to leadership positions, describing public office as a sacred trust that should be pursued with sincerity and competence for the benefit of society.
In his remarks, Oyebamiji urged eligible voters not to sell their votes during the election, describing the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) as a vital democratic tool that empowers citizens to choose their leaders.
He appealed to residents to use their PVCs responsibly by voting for candidates they believe possess the competence and capacity to govern effectively, rather than exchanging their votes for financial inducements.
The meeting also highlighted the need for peaceful participation before, during and after the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
