APC first-term governors meet in Kebbi

Governors serving their first term under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform are currently meeting in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital.

The meeting, hosted by Governor Nasir Idris, has in attendance Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba).

Other state governors sent in their deputies.

The agenda of the meeting has not been made public, but may not be unconnected with issues related to the forthcoming general election.

In May, the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) was thrown into crisis after a rival faction emerged within the body.

Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state and chairman of the forum, insisted that he remains the legitimate leader of the PGF.

The opposing faction rallied behind Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governor of Kwara state.
