The Benue State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the assassination of a University don Prof. Gabriel Saawua Nyityo.
Prof Nyityo, a lecturer with the Benue State University, BSU now Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, MOAUM was murdered in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence located at Adaka which is just 8km from the main town.
The Police Public Relations’ Officer DSP Edet Udeme, who made the confirmation, said Supol D Division of the command received a distress call along Adaka axis and on arrival at the location, saw two dead bodies one Prof Gabriel Saawua Nyityo 58 years old and his younger brother one lorngee John Nyityo who is just 19 years old that were killed by unknown gunmen.
She said one suspect Abdullahi Usman 23 years of Awe in Nasarawa state has been arrested in connection to the crime while investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects .
