Tinubu recalled that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the amendment bill at its meeting on April 30, 2026.

According to him, the Federal Ministry of Justice subsequently gazetted and finalised the bill in accordance with legislative drafting standards and relevant constitutional provisions.

The president said the proposed amendment aligns with his administration’s commitment to strengthening educational institutions and improving governance in the education sector.

He urged the Senate to give the bill accelerated consideration and expeditious passage in the national interest.

The proposed legislation is expected to reinforce the operational framework of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission and support efforts to improve the quality and administration of senior secondary education nationwide.
