U.S. Senator who backs Israel’s genocide in Palestine, war with Iran, dies at 71

U.S. Senator Lindsey ‌Graham passed away on Saturday evening after a brief and sudden illness, the communications director for his office said in a post on X early on Sunday.

Graham, 71, was a prominent ‌Republican senator from South Carolina.

“Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period,” his office added.

A war hawk, Graham was a strong advocate for an interventionist foreign policy, including military action against Iran and the Palestinians.

He strongly supported Israel’s genocide in Palestine and was a strong advocate of the Israel–United States relations.

Graham expressed strong support for Israel and consistently denied accusations of genocide against Israel. He was accused of “warmongering rhetoric” that exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The late Senator had ran for the Republican nomination in the 2016 U.S. presidential election but dropped out before the primaries began.
