Tell APC governors to donate N500m monthly, Fayose tells Remi Tinubu

Date:

Isaac Fayose, the brother of the former Ekiti governor, has kicked against first lady Remi Tinubu’s recent appeal to Nigeria’s top music stars.

Tinubu recently called on music heavyweights like Burna Boy, Davido, and Asake to redirect their priorities toward humanitarian causes.

She urged the artistes to establish foundations dedicated to supporting the less privileged and alleviating the suffering of struggling citizens.

Reacting in an Instagram video on Sunday, Fayose suggested that the first lady should instead direct her call to governors of states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC), proposing they allocate N500 million monthly from their budgets to support vulnerable citizens.

He also criticised the recent purchase of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for APC women leaders in various states, saying those funds could have been better used to assist low-income traders and people living in poverty.

“You are the one who asked these state governors to buy women leaders in their states brand new jeeps, APC women leaders. That money, too, could have helped these groundnut, pepper, àkàrà sellers,” he said.

“That money could have helped poor people too in their states. Aunty, the majority of the states are APC states. Why do you not advise their governors to take N500 million each every month to help people in need in their states? If you tell them, they will do it.
“Davido, Burna Boy, Asake have been trying in heir own way. The governors should do more ma.”
