The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, has warmly congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, while also commending the Oyo State Government and the nation’s security agencies for their collaborative efforts in securing the victims’ safe release.
He described the operation as a remarkable demonstration of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to the safety, security and wellbeing of every Nigerian child.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, the Minister expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his steadfast leadership and continued resolve in ensuring that no effort was spared until the victims regained their freedom.
Dr. Alausa also commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Oyo State Government for their cooperation with the relevant security agencies, sustained support for the rescue efforts, and commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation and safe reintegration of the rescued pupils and teachers with their families.
The Minister further applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and every security and intelligence agency that participated in the operation for their professionalism, courage, coordination and sacrifice, which led to the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers and the arrest of the perpetrators without harm to the victims.

The Minister expressed heartfelt sympathy to the pupils, teachers and their families for the emotional trauma they endured during their period in captivity, while praying for their speedy physical and psychological recovery.
Dr. Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to continue strengthening the safety and security of schools across the country, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also urged communities, parents, school authorities and other stakeholders to continue supporting government’s efforts by remaining vigilant and cooperating with security agencies to ensure that schools remain safe environments where teaching and learning can thrive.
