The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has received a boost in Bauchi State after some former executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Misau Local Government Area dumped the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors announced their resignation from the APC during a political gathering organized by Hon. Maiwada Bakoji Misau and Hon. Shehu Dubagari Misau, describing their move as a “political awakening” driven by the need for justice, fairness and inclusive leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the former APC officials accused the party’s leadership of sidelining grassroots members, lacking internal democracy and failing to provide effective leadership.
According to them, the decision to join the PRP was informed by the party’s commitment to service, empowerment and meaningful development.
“We are joining the PRP because politics should be about service to humanity, empowerment and meaningful development,” the group stated.
The defectors also pledged to work towards expanding the PRP’s support base across Bauchi State as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In response, PRP leaders welcomed the new members and assured them of equal opportunities and full participation in the party’s affairs.
They reaffirmed the party’s commitment to justice, transparency, unity and people-centred governance, urging members to remain focused and united ahead of the next general election.
