NSC constitutes committee on Sports Data Base, Hall of Fame

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has set up a Committee on Nigerian Sports Data Base and Hall of Fame.

The Commission made this public yesterday in a release issued to that effect.

According to the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the terms of reference for the committee would be spelt out to Committee during the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on the reason for setting up the committee, the Director General disclosed that “The primary objective for the setting up of the Committee is to monitor virtually all the serving and retired sports men and women living in Nigeria and abroad and to ascertain the level of their living conditions and to determine if the Sports Commission should offer assistance to them if necessary.

“We want to monitor our sports men and women wherever they are in the country, continent and abroad and to help those that need help if needs be.

The only way we can do this is to have a data base where their names and profile/data would be captured. There is also dire need to honour our heroes and heroines past and present through the establishment of Hall of Fame”, Elegbeleye disclosed.

The Terms of Reference of the Committee will be fully spelt out during the inauguration that will take place very soon.” the DG of the NSC disclosed.

The 10-member as follows: Mrs Hauwa-Kulu Akinyemi- Director/Cordinator, Pastor Peterside Idah- Chairman, Technical Committee, Mrs Maria Wophil- Secretary, Nkechi Obi, Dr. Felix Waboso, Onochie Anibeze, Mr. Hart Jonah, Mr. Akintunde Akinsemola, Mary Onyali, Ahmed Bala.
