The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced its decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying it will not field a presidential candidate in the forthcoming general election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the absence of an APGA presidential candidate on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal was a deliberate decision and not a failure to meet the electoral body’s deadline.
According to Opara, APGA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved after extensive consultations to endorse Tinubu as the party’s preferred presidential candidate, describing the move as being in the national interest.
He stressed that the party remains fully engaged in the 2027 electoral process despite opting out of the presidential race.
Opara added that APGA has successfully submitted the names of its candidates for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections through the INEC nomination portal.
He maintained that the party’s decision not to nominate a presidential candidate was solely because of its endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term bid.
