APC primary: Court Adjouns Shagari/Yabo Federal Constituency Case to July 19

From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
The Federal High Court sitting in Sokoto has adjourned the hearing in the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency APC primary election case to 19th July, 2027.
The plaintiff in the case, Abubakar Umar Shagari, filed the suit challenging the purported victory of Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir in the last APC primary election held in the constituency.
The presiding judge, Justice Ahmad Muhamoud Gama, announced the adjournment on Thursday after counsel to the Plaintiff, Barr. Y.Y. Gwazawa, presented two witnesses who were cross-examined by Counsel to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd defendants, Barr. Jacob Ochidi, SAN, Barr. Bashir Muazu Jodi and Barr.I.Y. Tijjani, respectively.
Gwazawa also presented two witnesses during the court proceedings who were cross-examined by counsel to the defendants, including Joseph Ochidi (SAN) and others.
The two witnesses, Aminu Musa and Murtala Shagari, tendered written statements in English as part of their testimony before the court.
However, Counsel to the 2nd defendant (APC), Barr. Bashir Jodi, told newsmen shortly after the adjournment that Counsel to the plaintiff had presented two witnesses and intended to present a third witness who was not in Court.
Based on that reason, the Counsel sought for an adjournment of the case, which was granted by the Court.
