Cross River Residents Defend Gov Otu, Say Development Speaks Louder Than Politics

Date:

Residents of Cross River State have commended Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu for what they described as remarkable developmental strides, urging critics to allow him to remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy.

The commendation comes amid criticism from some political opponents over the governor’s projects, particularly the newly constructed Cross River State House of Assembly Complex.

One of the residents and a supporter of the governor, Deputy director Nigeria bloggers forum associations, Anthony Timothy described the edifice as a world-class structure that reflects a bold vision for the state’s future, noting that its architectural design compares favourably with iconic government buildings in other parts of the world.

According to him, the Assembly Complex is a symbol of purposeful leadership and the administration’s commitment to building enduring public infrastructure.

He argued that rather than attracting criticism, such projects should be celebrated as investments that will serve generations to come.

Beyond the Assembly Complex, he also praised Governor Otu for implementing development initiatives across key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, economic revitalisation and urban renewal, saying that the administration’s policies are gradually restoring confidence in governance and positioning Cross River as an attractive destination for investment and tourism.

He further noted that ongoing road rehabilitation projects and other public infrastructure investments are expected to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve the standard of living of the people.

While acknowledging that every government is entitled to constructive criticism, he urged political opponents to avoid actions capable of distracting the governor from fulfilling his mandate.

He maintained that leadership should be judged by vision, commitment and tangible results, stressing that Governor Otu has demonstrated a determination to move Cross River State forward through sustainable development.

He expressed optimism that with sustained focus and public support, the governor would deliver more transformative projects that would further improve the lives of Cross River people and strengthen the state’s economy.
