.Says comprehensive security report before Jonathan From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has said that it has done a lot to woo the Federal government to overcome insurgency bedevilling the North but the will power by the government to act is not there. A member and executive  of the Forum, Barrister Solomon Dalung while fielding journalists’ questions shortly after the Forum meeting in Bauchi, said “We gave the President a comprehensive security report, analysis and the size of the insurgents, we gave him another report when we have some preliminary contact with some people who were able to get over, and we came with the issue of carrot and stick which he admitted was the best and wonderful proposal ever given to him” Dalung said nobody should claim that the terrorists are killing only Muslim Northerners, the Igbos and other Christians in the insurgency area are also victims and losers. He however explained that Muslims have been killed more than any other religion in the insurgency prone states. He queried, “If we argue that the insurgency is trying to Islamize Nigerians, when a Muslim killed a Muslim, he intend to convert him to what? This is the irony of the way Nigerians think”. Barrister Solomon Dalung further explained that the Federal government owed the responsibility to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians which the President attested to do, ‘That is what the Northern Elders are asking”.
