Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced on Friday that the extensive infrastructure delivery under President Bola Tinubu has effectively silenced political opposition in the nation’s capital.

Speaking at the commissioning of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Wike asserted that tangible development serves as the ultimate scorecard against critics.

He declared that the scale of rural and urban projects executed under the current administration has left opposition figures with little room for criticism.

“Abuja is shut down. Abuja is closed,” Wike stated, describing the current governance approach as “operation show your report card.”

He challenged opponents to match the current administration’s infrastructure record in the satellite towns and city centre.

The event marked the conclusion of the FCT Administration’s unprecedented 31-day projects commissioning and flag-off marathon, which commenced on June 9 and concluded on Friday, July 17.

Over this period, the administration officially commissioned more than 53 projects.

Reflecting on the month-long exercise, the Minister noted it was the first time in Nigeria’s history that a presidency had sustained such an intensive infrastructure rollout over nearly 28 days of active public events.

Wike confirmed the FCTA would take a brief intermission to rest and re-strategize before returning to commission at least 10 additional projects before the end of the year.

Addressing immediate community needs at the venue, he directed the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to urgently resolve water supply challenges raised by local community leaders.

The newly rehabilitated Arab/Gbazango Road served as the final project in the anniversary itinerary, which highlighted road, housing, transport, and public utilities developed under the federal government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
