Justice calls for collaborative efforts to address Nigeria’s problems

The Chairman, Advisory Board of Sardauna Foundation and retired former President, Federal Court of Appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir said that Nigeria as a nation is sick and would need collaborative efforts from all sections to survive as a country.

He stated this when he received members of the national executive of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the headquarters of the Foundation in Kaduna yesterday.

According to the former Justice, it is very deceptive for anybody to think that the Boko Haram insurgency and wanton destruction of lives and property will be limited to the North-East.

He stressed that the problem is moving at the speed of wild fire and will consume the whole country if urgent attention is not taken.

“We must also remind ourselves that Boko Haram is not the only security challenge confronting Nigeria, the kidnapping in the South-East and South-South, armed robberies and ritual killings in the South-West all calls for urgent action.

“We are now advanced in age and can only call on you people who are youths and leaders of tomorrow to take up the challenges and make yourselves available in order to solve the insecurity problem in the country. Nigeria is your home and you don’t have any other country besides it.

“The man we named this foundation after late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto worked tirelessly to unite the region; but today those factors that he used in unifying us are the same factors being used to divide us which are ethnic and religious backgrounds. It is time we come back to our senses and start working towards restoring the North and the country back to its lost glory,” he said.

In his own remark, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Chris Daniel said the bane of Nigeria’s problem today is the style of leadership that the elected are practicing.
