Atiku best positioned to defeat Tinubu in 2027- ADC chieftain

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), in the South-East, Omega Odunze, has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, will secure a decisive victory in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu, Odunze, who serves as Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Community Mobilization in the South-East and heads the Atiku Community Mobilization (ACM), said Atiku enjoys significant advantages over President Bola Tinubu and other presidential hopefuls.
According to him, Atiku’s experience in government, leadership record and support base in Northern Nigeria place him in a strong position ahead of the election.
“Having served as the number two citizen of the country for eight unbroken years, there is no doubt that Atiku had garnered enormous leadership experience to take the country to a greater height.
“We are convinced that he will win the election because all the odds favour him. His track records in public office are there for everyone to see. When he was the Vice President and Chairman of the National Economic Council under President Olusegun Obasanjo, the economy of Nigeria boomed,” Odunze said.
He also credited Atiku with opening Nigeria’s telecommunications sector to foreign investment and said the country’s debt relief from the Paris Club was achieved under the economic team led by the former vice president.
Odunze further disclosed that the Atiku Community Mobilization team has embarked on a voter sensitisation campaign across the South-East to encourage residents to register for and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to him, the exercise has covered Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia and Imo states, with Enugu recording increasing participation.
He said feedback from the exercise indicated that many residents in the region were eager for a government that would promote development and ensure greater inclusion of the South-East.
Odunze added that the mobilization campaign also targeted members of the Hausa community living in the South-East, urging them to obtain their PVCs and participate in the election.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the ADC in Enugu State, Comrade Adolphus Ude, expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the state, describing the ADC as an increasingly attractive platform for voters dissatisfied with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
