Four Zamfara poly students regain freedom after 50 days in captivity
The Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly rescued the remaining four students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara state, who were kidnapped from their residence on June 2.
The students, made up of three males and one female, were freed late on Wednesday during an intelligence-led operation “without the payment of any ransom”.
One of the suspected kidnappers was arrested during the operation while others were killed.
The students were among seven undergraduates abducted after gunmen attacked their residence in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda town. One of the students escaped during the attack, leaving six others in captivity.
Two of the six students were released earlier, while “sustained intelligence-led operations by security agencies” led to the rescue of the remaining four students on Wednesday.
