Ex-Rivers PDP Chairman accuses Fubara of betraying public trust

Former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betraying the confidence of Rivers people through what he described as a lack of openness and transparency.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, monitored in Abuja, Ewor said many residents and political leaders had initially believed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was preventing Fubara from effectively governing the state.
According to him, that perception later proved to be inaccurate, prompting him to reconsider his earlier criticism of the former Rivers governor.
Ewor admitted that he had previously directed harsh criticism at Wike because he believed the minister was frustrating Fubara’s administration, but said subsequent developments convinced him otherwise.
He argued that if the governor had been more transparent and kept the people informed about the political situation in the state, many of the protests and public demonstrations in his support would not have occurred.
The former PDP chairman maintained that Fubara has continued to withhold key information from the public, making it difficult for supporters to understand his political position.
He added that the governor’s actions had ultimately led many Rivers residents to reassess their stance in the state’s prolonged political crisis.
Ewor also expressed satisfaction with what he described as the return of Rivers people to the “Rainbow Coalition,” suggesting that the political realignment marked a new phase in the state’s politics.
