Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and the Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, who passed away on Thursday in Abuja after a brief illness.

“Today, Nigeria has lost one of its finest public servants, Sokoto has lost an illustrious son, and our nation has lost a statesman whose life was defined by integrity, service, and patriotism,” Governor Radda said.

He described the late elder statesman as an accomplished economist, distinguished diplomat, and patriotic Nigerian who served the country with honour in several strategic national assignments.

“Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji was a remarkable leader whose wisdom, humility, and commitment to public service earned him the respect of Nigerians from all walks of life,” the governor stated.

He said the late Sardaunan Sokoto devoted his life to the service of Nigeria and the development of Sokoto State, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, excellence, and selfless leadership.

“Throughout his distinguished career, he remained committed to nation-building, good governance, and the welfare of the Nigerian people. His passing leaves a great void in our national life,” Radda added.
