The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has uploaded the nomination records and profile of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, confirming his candidature for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
The development was announced on Thursday by the Pantamiyya Movement, which said the upload was completed on July 26 in line with the electoral timetable.
According to the group, Pantami emerged as the PDP’s unopposed governorship candidate during the party’s primary held on May 26 after other aspirants were reportedly not cleared by the party’s National Working Committee and did not obtain certificates of clearance.
The movement said the primary election was monitored by INEC and conducted in compliance with relevant electoral laws and party guidelines.
It added that the PDP’s Office of the National Organising Secretary confirmed the successful upload of Pantami’s nomination documents and forwarded the acknowledged copy to both the candidate and the party.
Describing the completion of the nomination process as a significant step towards the 2027 governorship election, the group expressed confidence in Pantami’s ability to provide what it called competent and visionary leadership for Gombe State.
The movement highlighted Pantami’s previous roles as Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, and former Co-Chairman of the African Union’s Fourth Industrial Revolution Policy Council.
It also claimed that he increased revenue generated from the digital economy sector by more than 593 per cent, reduced service costs and facilitated over 241 projects and programmes in Gombe State during his public service career.
According to the group, Pantami plans to leverage his experience in education, agriculture, digital economy, industrialization, security and youth empowerment to drive sustainable development, create employment opportunities and promote inclusive governance if elected governor.
The movement further commended the PDP leadership in Gombe State and the party’s National Working Committee for overseeing what it described as a transparent nomination process, expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship election.
