ADC urges Tinubu to order independent probe into PFIPC scandal

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to order a full and independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), warning that the scandal is damaging Nigeria’s image at home and abroad.
Speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV, monitored in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the allegations linked to the purported Director General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi, had raised serious concerns about the integrity of the Presidency.
According to Abdullahi, the controversy has fueled public perception that corrupt practices, including alleged payments for contracts, appointments and access to top government officials, may be taking place within the Presidency.
He said the scandal had embarrassed Nigerians before the international community, stressing that many people now believe the allegations may reflect a wider pattern of misconduct rather than an isolated incident.
The ADC spokesman urged President Tinubu to ensure a transparent investigation capable of clearing his administration of any suggestion of complicity in the matter.
He also argued that the President’s public expression of confidence in his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, before the conclusion of any investigation could be interpreted by some as shielding an ally.
Abdullahi further suggested that Gbajabiamila should voluntarily step aside while investigations are conducted, saying such a move would demonstrate commitment to transparency and help restore public confidence.
He maintained that an independent probe remains the best way to establish the facts and either confirm or dismiss the allegations surrounding the PFIPC controversy.
