NCYP happy with Gov. Uba Sani’s running mate choice, citing inclusivity over political gain

The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has commended Governor Uba Sani, for selecting Mr. Jerry Adams as his running mate, describing the decision as one driven by inclusivity, peace, and development instead of personal political advantage.
In a press statement issued in Kaduna, and signed by Isaac Abrak, the National Chairman, and Daniel John, Kaduna State Coordinator of NCYP, the group urged the people of Kaduna State to support this decision.
According to NCYP, the Governor did not act for himself but for the people of Kaduna, aiming to restore “the bond of love, mutual respect, trust, fairness, and justice that once existed between Christians and Muslims in Kaduna State.”
“Strengthening the relative peace the state has enjoyed under his administration, rebuilding trust between Christians and Muslims, and ultimately ending insecurity are central to this decision.
“A Kaduna State where everyone feels a sense of belonging is essential for thriving businesses, happy families, and citizens building a better future,” the statement noted.
NCYP pointed out that Kaduna suffered years of religious tension and insecurity, which they linked to the leadership style of the previous administration of Nasir El-Rufai.
“During those eight years, the state experienced repeated attacks, killings, kidnappings, abductions, sexual violence, and displacement, devastating many families and communities,” the group said.
It noted that Governor Uba Sani inherited this challenging situation but opted for a different path centered on inclusion, dialogue, and reconciliation.
“His Peace and Reconciliation initiative, which unites Christian and Muslim communities for dialogue and mutual understanding, is part of this approach,” NCYP stated, adding that such efforts have contributed to the relative peace the state enjoys and are now being emulated by other states.
Regarding the choice of Jerry Adams, NCYP emphasized it further highlights the Governor’s commitment to inclusion.
“We are confident that the Governor has made a carefully considered choice of Jerry Adams, a Christian who is competent and experienced, a public servant who has demonstrated that he can work with people across religious lines,” the statement read.
The group highlighted Adams’ tenure as Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), where he played a key role in strengthening revenue administration.
It also acknowledged his prior experience with the Nigerian Bottling Company, Coca-Cola.
“Those who worked with or served under him can testify to his professionalism, competence, and ability to work with people from different backgrounds,” NCYP said.
The group added that choosing a Muslim running mate during the Governor’s first electoral run was influenced by the political arrangement at that time.
