Police arrest six suspected rapists in Delta community

The police detectives in Agbor, Ika-South Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested six suspected rapists on Monday evening around Central Hospital area in Agbor.

Reports said that the suspects were apprehended inside an uncompleted building with three teenage girls after they had allegedly embarrassed them sexually.

As it were, there have been reported cases of rape especially among teenage girls in Agbor community and its environs in the last two weeks, leaving elders of the community in shock.

It would be recalled that a 400 level student of the state owned College of Education, was two weeks ago allegedly raped by unknown rapists and is currently responding to treatment in a private hospital.

Sources said that these group of rapists in their modules operandi are always armed with dangerous weapons while laying siege on unsuspecting teenage girls, who may be on errand for their parents especially at night, and after nabbing them, would drag them into the bush where they are allegedly raped.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, disclosed that upon interrogation, they confirmed to be rapists, who earn a living through such illicit sexual act. She said various packets of condoms including jack knives were recovered from them.

She said that the suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
