2027: My repeated electoral losses won’t stop my presidential ambition- Atiku

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed concerns over his previous electoral defeats, declaring that he remains determined and capable of winning the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku, who spoke in an interview with Jaji TV Hausa, said he was physically fit, energetic and prepared for another presidential contest, insisting that nothing would prevent him from pursuing his ambition.
The former Vice President drew parallels between his political journey and that of former United States President Abraham Lincoln, who, according to him, also experienced electoral setbacks before eventually attaining the presidency.
Atiku recalled that he contested the governorship election in Adamawa State on four occasions, but the military administrations at the time cancelled the electoral processes.
He said he eventually succeeded on his fifth attempt, describing repeated political setbacks as part of the democratic process.
“I am fit, healthy and full of energy, nothing can stop me,” Atiku said.
He argued that previous defeats should not be interpreted as evidence that a politician cannot eventually achieve his political ambition.
The ADC candidate also asked how many elections Lincoln lost before eventually becoming President of the United States, using the historical example to underscore his belief that persistence can ultimately lead to electoral success.
Peoples Daily reports that Atiku is seeking to lead the ADC into the 2027 presidential election as the opposition party intensifies its efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
