Yiaga Africa says it will deploy artificial intelligence and its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) system to independently scrutinise the results of the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
The civil society organisation said the measures are aimed at strengthening transparency and providing an independent assessment of the results announced from polling units across the state.
The deployment of AI technology alongside PVT is expected to enable Yiaga Africa to analyse and verify election results as they emerge from polling units.
The organisation’s monitoring initiative is part of its broader efforts to promote electoral transparency, accountability and public confidence in the outcome of the election.
With voting underway across Osun’s 30 local government areas, attention is expected to shift from the conduct of voting to the counting, transmission and collation of results.
Yiaga Africa’s independent verification will therefore provide another layer of scrutiny as political parties, observers and voters await the final declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The development comes amid concerns raised by election observers over security, logistics, voter inducement and the integrity of the electoral process ahead of the poll.
The credibility of the final result will ultimately depend not only on the votes cast but also on the transparency of the counting and collation process.
