Incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has taken an early lead in the ongoing collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election, polling 177,572 votes as results from 303 of the state’s 332 wards are being reported.

Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, leads his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who has secured 158,588 votes.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is in third position with 5,917 votes as collation continues across the state’s 30 local government areas.

The emerging figures showed that 361,500 of the state’s 845,100 registered voters had been accredited, representing a voter turnout of 42.8 per cent.
