Fatal accident kills 9 persons in Niger

At least nine persons have lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash that occurred between Lanle and Shaba Woro along the Bida-Kutigi-Mokwa Road in Niger State.

It was gathered that the fatal accident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, involved a Mazda vehicle traveling from Minna to Mokwa and a Toyota Sienna heading to Minna from Lagos.

According to reliable local sources, the Mazda collided head-on with the oncoming Sienna after navigating a blind curve along the highway.

An eyewitness at the scene reported seeing nine dead bodies, while several other passengers, who sustained severe injuries were rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

Reacting to the incident, a resident of the area, Malam Sachi Isah, appealed to commercial and private drivers to exercise patience and caution on the highways.

He urged motorists to avoid reckless overtaking, especially at sharp bends, and advised long-distance drivers to take adequate rest breaks to prevent fatigue-induced crashes.

Relevant security and road safety authorities were yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.
