Maulud: Aliyu preaches peaceful coexistence, unity, good brotherhood

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of the Maulud celebrations to promote peaceful coexistence, unity and good brotherhood.
He further called on Muslims to use the Maulud celebration to teach the younger generation about the outstanding and exceptional qualities of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), including patience, generosity, trustworthiness and good neighbourliness.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Sokoto by Abubakar Bawa, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto.
The Governor, while rejoicing with Muslims across the globe on this year’s celebration, urged Muslims in the state to use the occasion to pray fervently for Allah’s intervention in the current insecurity bedevilling some parts of the state.
According to him, the insecurity affecting the country has continued to pose serious threats to efforts being made by the Federal and State Governments to improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens.
“At our own level, we have done our best and will continue to provide the necessary support to our security agencies in their fight against banditry in the state,” he added.
He therefore called on the people of the state to continue to rally round the present administration in its quest to build a prosperous and future-assured Sokoto State.
Maulud celebrations are observed annually across the globe to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
