Bandits kill 4, abduct 4, injure 7 in Gorau, days after boat mishap

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed that gunmen attacked Gorau community in Goronyo Local Government Area on Wednesday night, killing four persons, abducting four others and injuring seven.
The attack came barely a week after no fewer than sixty people, mainly teenage girls, lost their lives in a boat mishap in the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufai, who confirmed the incident, said security operatives have been deployed to the area to track the attackers and rescue the abducted victims.
“We received a distress call about the attack on Gorau village in Goronyo LGA. Four persons were confirmed dead, four were abducted, and seven others sustained injuries. Investigation is ongoing and our men are on ground,” he said.
Meanwhile, the member representing Goronyo and Gada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bashir Gorau, who hails from the ill-fated village, has condoled with the residents over the “dastardly attack.”
He called for more fervent prayers for the restoration of peace and security across Sokoto state and Nigeria in general.
Residents of Gorau and adjoining communities have also appealed to government and security agencies to intensify patrols and surveillance to prevent a recurrence.
