2027: APC targets grassroots mobilization to sweep Lagos polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eredo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State has unveiled an aggressive grassroots mobilization strategy aimed at securing victory for the party in all elective positions in the state during the 2027 general elections.

Wasiu Ismail, the APC chairman in Eredo LCDA, said the party would deploy door-to-door campaigns, intensive publicity, member mobilization and voter enlightenment to translate its grassroots presence into electoral victories.

Ismail, who spoke with journalists in Lagos on Sunday, said the strategy was designed to secure APC victories in the Lagos State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and presidential elections.

“APC will win all the positions, from the House of Assembly to the House of Representatives, Senate and the presidency in Lagos State and beyond. All strategies to achieve this have been mapped out,” he said.

According to him, the party would take its campaign directly to communities and households rather than rely solely on conventional political rallies.

“We will take our campaign to the doorsteps of the people through aggressive publicity, orientation and enlightenment of members, door-to-door campaigns and effective mobilization of our party members,” he said.

The Eredo APC chairman also urged party members and supporters to participate in the ongoing membership registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that political support would only translate into electoral success if voters turned out to cast their ballots.

“I am appealing to all our members to participate actively in the membership registration exercise and ensure that they obtain their PVCs because voting is the most important way to translate our support into electoral victory,” he said.

Ismail further identified internal unity as critical to the party’s prospects in 2027, urging aggrieved members to put their differences aside and work together ahead of the elections.

“Unity must prevail in the APC. All aggrieved members should come together, resolve their differences and work for the overall interest and victory of the party,” he said.

He also expressed confidence in the capacity of the APC governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu if elected.

Ismail described Hamzat as an experienced politician with a good understanding of Lagos State’s development needs, saying he would be capable of consolidating the achievements of the current administration.

“I believe Hamzat will perform very well if elected as governor because he has the experience and capacity to consolidate the achievements of the present administration,” he said.

On the federal level, the APC chieftain urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying its reforms were aimed at addressing the country’s challenges and would eventually produce positive results.

“President Bola Tinubu has a vision and a mission to accomplish that vision. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and Nigerians should remain hopeful and supportive of the ongoing reforms,” he said.

Ismail called on APC members across Lagos to intensify mobilization in every ward, polling unit and community, insisting that the party’s expected victory would depend on effective grassroots organisation.

“Our members must remain united and committed at the grassroots because victory will not come by words alone. We must work for it in every ward, polling unit and community,” he said.

He also urged APC supporters to turn out massively on election day, vote for the party’s candidates and ensure that their votes were protected.

According to him, converting the party’s claimed grassroots support into actual electoral victory would ultimately depend on voter mobilization and turnout.
