ProTaxi joins Nigeria’s e-hailing market, targets affordable rides

PromiseLand Innovations Limited will launch its homegrown e-hailing platform, ProTaxi, on October 1, 2026, in Nigeria, targeting affordable, technology-driven and environmentally friendly urban transportation.

The company’s CEO, Lawrence Oloche, said ProTaxi was developed to connect passengers with drivers while providing safer, reliable and cost-effective mobility, with electric vehicles forming a key part of its long-term strategy.

The Abuja-based company said the adoption of electric vehicles could reduce operating costs for drivers and, consequently, help make fares more affordable for passengers.

Oloche said ProTaxi would give drivers the flexibility to determine their working schedules, allowing them to operate either full-time or for selected hours.

The platform is also targeting a leading position in Africa’s eco-friendly ride-hailing sector through the promotion of sustainable transportation and clean energy.

“We believe getting around should be easy, affordable, and environmentally responsible,” the company said.

ProTaxi riders will be able to book trips through the application and connect with available drivers within their locations.

The platform also offers personalised location features, multiple payment options, trip information and access to drivers’ receipts.

For passenger safety, ProTaxi said it had incorporated driver verification, real-time tracking, ratings and reviews.

Riders can also share their live locations with family members and friends, enabling them to monitor their journeys in real time.

For drivers, the company said its flexible model would allow them to choose when to work while earning through the platform.

The October 1 launch will mark PromiseLand Innovations Limited’s entry into Nigeria’s technology-driven transportation sector.

The company already has interests in real estate, including a plan to develop 100,000 housing units across Nigeria, beginning with the Federal Capital Territory.

Its entry into e-hailing expands its business interests from housing into mobility, two areas with direct implications for everyday life.

The launch comes amid rising transportation and vehicle operating costs, with the company seeking to position ProTaxi as an indigenous alternative in the competitive e-hailing market.

PromiseLand said the combination of electric vehicles, technology and locally developed solutions would form the basis of its strategy to compete in the sector.

The ProTaxi rider application is already available on iPhone and Android devices ahead of the October 1 launch.
