Aljazirah Awards Honour Tunji-Ojo, Seyi Tinubu, Ojulari, Governors for Excellence

Aljazirah Nigeria/London Newspapers has unveiled recipients of its Personality of the Year Awards 2025, honouring prominent Nigerians for outstanding leadership, public service, entrepreneurship, humanitarian contributions and good governance.

The media organisation said the awards recognise individuals whose achievements have contributed to national development, institutional reforms, innovation and improved service delivery across the public and private sectors.

In a statement signed by Hon. Ibrahim Abubakar, Aljazirah said the annual awards were designed to celebrate leadership, integrity, excellence and service to society.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emerged as Minister of the Year for reforms and innovations introduced at the Ministry of Interior.

According to the organisers, Tunji-Ojo’s recognition followed improvements in passport administration, border management, identity verification and correctional services, as well as the deployment of technology to enhance service delivery and security operations.

Seyi Tinubu was named Distinguished Humanitarian Service/Entrepreneur of the Year for his entrepreneurship, philanthropy and youth-focused initiatives.

Aljazirah said his humanitarian and community programmes have supported education, youth empowerment, self-reliance and productive citizenship among young Nigerians.

Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, was named Government Agency/Public Servant of the Year.

He was recognised for his leadership and efforts to promote research, innovation, local value addition and the development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector.

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Ojulari, emerged as Africa’s CEO of the Year.

The organisers cited his experience in the energy industry and leadership in strengthening commercial discipline, improving joint-venture operations and advancing major oil and gas investments.

They also highlighted efforts to boost crude oil production and advance Nigeria’s gas development agenda through strategic infrastructure projects.

Several state governors were also recognised for their performance in governance and development.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was honoured for infrastructure development and governance reforms under his administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, with emphasis on inclusive and sustainable development.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was recognised for fiscal management, infrastructure development and institutional reforms aimed at improving the state’s socio-economic landscape.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani made the honours list for initiatives promoting peace, equity and inclusive governance, alongside investments in education, healthcare and rural infrastructure.

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas was recognised for reforms in education, agriculture, environmental sanitation and security, as well as efforts to tackle illegal mining.

The governors of Bayelsa and Niger states were also listed among recipients of the Governors of the Year honours.

Aljazirah Nigeria/London Newspapers said the awards underscore its commitment to recognising individuals and institutions contributing to Nigeria’s development while promoting accountability, excellence and responsible leadership.

The organisation said its news platforms serve audiences across Nigeria, other parts of Africa, the United Kingdom, the Arab world and beyond.
