Gov. Aliyu, Sen. Wamakko Condole Yari Over Maternal Aunt’s Death

It was a solemn atmosphere in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, on Wednesday, as Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, led a high-powered delegation on a condolence visit to Sen. Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar, over the death of his maternal aunt, Hajiya Rakkiya Jibrin.
The Governor was accompanied by the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Hajiya Rakkiya Jibrin, the younger sister of Senator Yari’s mother, died on Tuesday at the age of 85 at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, after a brief illness.
The delegation comprised Commissioners, Special Advisers, top APC chieftains, politicians and members of the business community from Sokoto State.
Speaking during the visit, Sen. Wamakko conveyed the heartfelt condolences of Governor Aliyu, as well as the government and people of Sokoto State, to Senator Yari and the entire bereaved family.
Wamakko described the death of the 85-year-old matriarch as a great loss not only to Senator Yari and his family but to the entire Muslim Ummah.
He said the late Hajiya Rakkiya lived a fulfilled life devoted to family values, community service and the worship of Allah (SWT).
He prayed to Allah (SWT) to forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and give Senator Yari and the family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In his response, Senator Yari, who is the Director-General of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, Senator Wamakko and the entire delegation for standing with him in his moment of grief.
He said their presence in Talata Mafara and their fervent prayers had brought comfort and solace to him and his family.
He particularly appreciated Governor Aliyu and Senator Wamakko for demonstrating uncommon solidarity and brotherhood by travelling from Sokoto to commiserate with the family.
Senator Yari prayed to Allah (SWT) to reward the visitors abundantly, bless their journey back home and grant his late aunt eternal rest in Aljannah.
The condolence visit underscored the strong bond of brotherhood and political solidarity between the Sokoto State leadership and Sen. Yari.
