Sultan Turbans Chief Ambrose Onah As New Sarki Idoma

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has turbanned Chief Ambrose Onah as the new Ada’Idoma, (Sarkin Idoma) in Sokoto.
The turbanning ceremony was held on Saturday in Sokoto.
Prayers were offered by Malam Sambo Na Malam Ilo for God to grant protection and wisdom to the new Sarkin Idoma Sokoto to lead his subjects well.
He also urged his deputy, the Alapa K’Idoma Sokoto, Chief Bartholomew Eluma to support the new Sarki to lead the Idoma community successfully.
A statement by Ankeli Emmanuel, Secretary of the ICDA Coronation Committee, quoted the Sultan as declaring his support for all resident community traditional leaders in Sokoto.
The Sultan who was represented by the Ciroman Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar said they cherish and respect everyone.
“As we turban you today as the Sarkin Idoma Sokoto (Ada’Idoma), we hope and pray that you ensure the sustenance and continuation of the cordial and good relationship we enjoy.
“I have known Idoma people to be very good and caring. I have some of them as friends, especially, the former President of the Senate, David Mark. I was a honorable commissioner at the National Assembly during his time. And one of my nephew’s, Senator Maccido, was Senate Committee chairman on appropriation then.
“You now have access to associate with the Sultanate Council and all the traditional rulers. I am a bridge between you and the Sultanate Council”.
The newly turbaned Sarkin Idoma Sokoto, hails from Olayega village in Opkokwu local government area of Benue State.
A retired Federal Civil Servant, Chief Ambrose Onah served as chairman of Edumoga Community for 16 years, and as elder and advisor, as well as Alapa of Idoma in Sokoto before the elevation to Sarkin Idoma.
