Liverpool returned to winning ways on Saturday after Alexander Isak’s second-half strike secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Isak settled a largely uneventful Premier League encounter in the 57th minute, scoring his fourth league goal of the season.
The defeat left Bournemouth still searching for their first top-flight victory of the campaign.
The Sweden international reacted quickest from close range after Cody Gakpo produced a determined run into the area before sending the ball across goal.
Bournemouth failed to clear the danger, allowing Isak to pounce and put Liverpool ahead.
Isak ran towards the travelling Liverpool supporters to celebrate, but was booked by referee Michael Oliver.
The victory also marked a winning return to Bournemouth for Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola.
Iraola previously guided the Cherries to European qualification before leaving the club in the summer to take charge at Anfield.
The Spaniard received a warm reception from the home supporters before kick-off.
However, his former side failed to spoil his return as Liverpool secured all three points.
Bournemouth created the first clear opportunity in the 18th minute.
Evanilson flicked the ball towards goal, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson reacted sharply to push the effort behind for a corner.
Liverpool struggled to create clear chances before the break.
Florian Wirtz appeared to have wasted an opportunity when his close-range effort went over the bar after he was flagged offside.
Replays, however, showed that the Germany international had been onside.
Liverpool increased the pressure after the interval and eventually broke the deadlock through Isak.
The visitors had chances to extend their lead.
£123m signing Bradley Barcola forced Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic into a save with his legs.
Dominik Szoboszlai also came close from a 25-yard free-kick, with his dipping effort narrowly missing the target.
The victory moved Liverpool up to sixth place with nine points from six matches.
Bournemouth remained 17th with three points from five games.
The Cherries will use the international break to regroup as they continue their search for a first Premier League victory of the season.
