The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has held its quarterly staff general meeting following the successful conclusion of the insurance industry recapitalisation exercise.

The meeting, convened by the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, provided an opportunity for the Commission’s management and staff to review the achievements of the recapitalisation programme and chart priorities for the post-recapitalisation era.

The gathering also focused on staff welfare, institutional effectiveness and organisational growth as the Commission positions itself to respond to the evolving demands of the insurance industry.

Deliberations at the meeting highlighted the need for strengthened regulation and supervision to sustain the gains recorded from the recapitalisation exercise and support the development of a stronger insurance sector.

The Commission also reiterated its commitment to continuous staff development, operational excellence and improved institutional capacity as key components of effective insurance regulation.

The post-recapitalisation phase is expected to place renewed demands on the Commission to ensure that insurance operators remain adequately capitalised, resilient and capable of delivering value to policyholders while contributing to economic development.

Against this backdrop, the meeting provided a platform for NAICOM management and staff to align their efforts towards building a more resilient, competitive and trusted insurance industry.

The Commission reaffirmed that staff capacity, effective supervision and institutional efficiency would remain central to its regulatory mandate as it works to consolidate the gains of the recapitalisation programme.

The meeting therefore marked not only the first quarterly staff gathering since the completion of the recapitalisation exercise, but also an opportunity for the Commission to reinforce its collective focus on the next phase of insurance sector development.
