The Nigerian Navy has warned Nigerians against a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, issued the warning in a statement on Monday, saying the notice was not authorised by the Navy and should be disregarded.
Folorunsho urged prospective applicants and members of the public to exercise caution when accessing recruitment information from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other platforms.
He explained that authentic information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would only be released through the Navy’s authorised communication channels.
According to him, the Navy’s official recruitment portal is the only approved platform for enlistment information and applications.
Folorunsho also warned prospective applicants against paying money to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms, stressing that recruitment into the Nigerian Navy is free.
“The Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf,” he said.
He added that the Navy remained committed to a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide accurate and timely information through its official channels.
Members of the public were advised to verify recruitment announcements before taking any action or providing personal information to third parties.
